Chicco Twala Makes US Partnership to Elevate SA Music

South African music icon Sello “Chicco” Twala has announced a pioneering partnership with Universal Royalty Exchange and Imbokodo Collecting Society, marking a significant milestone in his career.

This collaboration is set to benefit 30 000 South African recording artists by opening doors to the lucrative American market, where South African music has historically struggled to gain traction.

The partnership will provide a range of services, including catalogue management, global streaming platforms, and film and television sync placements. It also aims to fuse South Africa’s vibrant amapiano sounds with American hip-hop, creating unique musical blends that could capture global attention.

With an office established at the World Trade Center in New York City, New York, South African artists will now have a solid presence in the heart of the global entertainment industry.

At 61 years old, Twala sees this initiative as a legacy project, offering young South African talent unprecedented opportunities to thrive internationally. Despite challenges within the local industry, he remains committed to transforming the South African musical landscape and ensuring that its artists can compete on the world stage.
